Following redundancy from the Lighthouse Service I took on the Attendant's duties at Blacknore Point Lighthouse which is situated on the eastern bank of the River Severn between Clevedon and Portishead near Bristol. Blacknore was established in 1894 and converted to automatic electric operation in 1941. It has a 4th order catadioptric, biform 4 panel lens giving 2 flashes every 20 seconds. The focal plane of the lens is 36 feet above mean high water and the optic floats on a mercury bath. Access is gained to the lighthouse by way of a public path from the Clevedon Road near Portishead and from along the coastal path. Below are reproduced pages from the Order Book which covers the lighthouse visits made by the Superintendant or the Elder Brethren. These will be updated on a regular basis.
